The WinCamTM
PCI is a camera-based beam profiler that is engineered for
ease of installation and use. It comprises a CCD camera with an
ND-4.0 absorbing neutral-density filter, a PCI board for installation
in a Pentium® PC, and software. Installation of a complete system
takes less than ten minutes. WinCam overcomes the main drawback
of camera-based systems - limited dynamic range - with EclipseTM
software that controls both camera shutter speed and camera gain
and provides a dynamic range of 2000:1. The WinCam PCI can be
placed as close as 1mm to the laser source and may be used with
either pulsed or cw lasers. A simple double-click on the computer
mouse switches between accurate two-dimensional and three-dimensional
representations of the beam profile. The area of the beam to be
displayed is mouse selectable, along with zoom ratios than can vary
from 1:1 to 8:1. Standard spectral response of the camera is
from 350nm to 1.15зн. Melles Griot can provide the camera without
a cover glass, which drops the lower limit to 190nm. The standard
camera is supplied without a window, but includes the fitted ND-4.0
wedged filter. This eliminates interference fringes generated in
the window by coherent sources. The system is also available with
a window for extra protection. The standard spectral response
is from 250nm to 1150nm. Systems for use at wavelengths down to
190nm are available by special order.
