Lithium Triborate crystal (LBO) is
a nonlinear optical material characterized by a good
UV transparency, a relatively high damage threshold
and a moderate nonlinear coefficient. Unless it is slightly
hydroscopic, LBO is an attaractive crystal for frequency
conversion, especially for high power lasers at 1064
nm and OPO applications.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
LBO is featured by :
|
|
. broad transparency
range from 160 nm to 2600 nm . high optical homogeneity
(ヤn 10-6/cm) and being free of inclusion .
relatively large effective SHG coefficient (about
three times that of KDP) . high damage threshold
(18.9 GW/cm2 for a 1.3ns laser at 1053 nm) .
wide acceptance angle and small walk-off . type
I and type II non-critical phase matching (NCPM)
in a wide wavelength range . spectral NCPM near
1300 nm

coating and anti-reflection can be applied to BBO
crystals, depend upon different frequency conversion.
The coating on polished surfaces is necessary to
prevent it from exposure to moisture, because of
its low hygroscopic susceptibility.

listed above. For the nonlinear crystals, the maximum
conversion efficiency is mostly determined by three
specification crystals length, phase matching type,
and phase matching angles (ト and フ).

KTP(KTiOPO4) is a nonlinear optical
crystal, which possesses excellent nonlinear and electro-optic
properties. It has large nonlinear optical coefficients
and wide angular bandwidth and small walk-off angle,
etc, which make it suit for various nonlinear optical
and wave guide application.
|
|
|
|
Due to very high effective
nonlinearity (deff~8.3 x d36(KDP) at 1.06Л) and excellent optical
properties KTP perfectly suits as lasing material in various applications.
The phase matching range of KTP crystal lies in 0.99-3.3Л region.
This allows to use KTP as an intracavity and extracavity frequency
doubler for the most commonly used lasers, such as Nd:YAG, Nd:Glass
and Nd:YLF.
